PEAK:AIO Incorporates Micron’s 30TB Drives for Optimized AI Performance

MANCHESTER, England, June 20, 2023 — PEAK:AIO has announced that it has collaborated with Scan and Micron Technology, Inc. to deliver unparalleled artificial intelligence (AI) performance and scalability with PEAK:AIO’s introduction of Micron’s ground-breaking 30TB drives.

Micron turbocharges PEAK:AIO’s AI Data Server, unlocking new levels of performance and scale, delivering up to 650TBs of storage capacity in a single 2U server with enough performance to supercharge the hardiest of AI projects. With over 171GB/sec internal performance, PEAK:AIO is futureproofing compatibility while maximizing NVIDIA’s network connectivity such as the Connect-X range and BlueField DPUs.

Why the traditional storage vendors have failed to sell into the AI market (without mouthwatering discounts)

The storage industry is once again at an inflection point. Most recently it has been the move from centralized, on premises storage solutions to more flexible, scalable solutions that accommodate the endusers immediate requirements. PEAK:AIO provides HPC-level performance for AI with NAS simplicity and low cost

UK startup PEAK:AIO has rewrittten some of the NFS stack and LInux RAID code to get a small 1RU server with a PCIe 5 bus sending 80GB/sec of data to a single GPU client server for AI processing.

Three cheap servers doing this would send 240GB/sec to the GPU server, faster than high-end storage arrays using GPUDirect which pump data to an Nvidia DGX-A100 GPU server at 152 to 191GB/sec. PEAK:AIO provides storage to the AI market and has a user base ranging from startups to world status projects including the UK NHS AI deployment trials. It supports server vendors such as Dell EMC, Supermicro, Gigabyte, and will be distributed by PNY Technologies.

PEAK:AIO launched the latest version of its AI Data Server, doubling the performance of the previous version with 80GB/s from a single storage node and reducing the cost of ultra-performance AI data storage by up to 70 percent. An established vendor in the EMEA AI market, PEAK:AIO’s new software range is deployed on server technology, made in collaboration and support from vendors like Dell, Supermicro, and Gigabyte, and will be distributed by PNY Technologies. With the performance of the latest generation of CPUs, PCIe5, and NVIDIA’s networking technology, PEAK:AIO has achieved HPC-level performance within a single node giving resellers the chance to deliver AI solutions at a reasonable price.

Peak:AIO Cranks the Storage Throughput for Affordable AI Data Serving

Organizations that want to keep their pricey GPUs fed with data for machine learning training purposes but don’t want to break the bank with a big parallel file system installation may be interested in a fast new NFS-based storage offering unveiled today by Peak:AIO, which delivers 80 GB per second of I/O capacity from a 1U server.

Peak:AIO develops server-agnostic data storage systems designed for AI workloads, such as the DGX systems from Nvidia. The British company’s previous iteration of the AI Data Server, which it sells via hardware partners like DellEMC and Supermicro, could deliver 40 GB per second of storage I/O via RDMA atop NFS from a 2U box. With the latest iteration of the AI Data server the company has doubled the data I/O while cutting the size of the box in half, to a 1U system.
